2008 Shawnee Mission Triathlon

Good job, Tommy, on completing the 2008 Shawnee Mission Sprint Triathlon.  he completed the course in 1:05... which he said "was a little slower than my time a couple years ago.... but I was in much better shape then."  Sounds like all the Skram boys received the same memo in defending their slower times this year!  At least he ran the race this year... not sure where Pete's time is.

Tommy's trying to get a photo together, and I'll put it here if he can figure it out.

2008 Minneman Triathlon - July 5, 2008

July%204%202008%20042%202.jpgWell, Saturday morning came and went without any trips to the hospital, which is good.  I completed the race in about the time I expected. 1:33... about 9 minutes slower than when I ran the same course in 2006 (two weeks before THE day).  Keep in mind, however, I have several reasons (... excuses, I guess) as to why the time was slower: I was not planning on running until about a month ago; it was really windy; the swim was full of weeds; it was only the 3rd outdoor ride on my new bike; and due to prior history, I took my time during the transitions and water stops on the run to make sure I was properly hydrated and cooled off..... anything else?..... oh yeah, I'm out of shape and I'm a good 15 lbs heavier than I was in 2006.... so there you go.

(NOT SO) MinneMan.....

So I'm running in the MinnemanTriathlon this weekend (Sat. July 5, 2008).  And, well, I'm not so "Minne." Let's just say I'm in no way going to be illegally running in the Clydesdale division!  Anyway, I went for a run yesterday in the nice weather (low 80's and low humidity) felt pretty good, but I kept thinking.... I have to do this AFTER swimming and running.  I would not be too worried about it, because I agreed to run this race with my sister-in-law Lisa Voit, but she's come down with some phantom injury, so I'll be going it alone.  Not to worry, though, Lori will be there, so we should have no repeat peformances of the dreaded 2006 Okoboji Triathlon.   I'll let you know how it works out.
